For an assignment, we had to make a 20 page topic around any topic. This was an opportunity to try something new, while developing our editorial skills.

Propaganda has always fascinated me

and once I saw Design Theory’s video about  ‘How Governments Use Design & Propaganda to Control You’, I knew I had to put my own visual spin on it!

What is propaganda?

For me, it is the truth hiding within chaos, and In its own way, I wanted the magazine to serve as a piece of propaganda.

With its bright colors and chaotic layouts, it is created to unapologetically grab your attention.

Grids and breaking grids were an integral part of the magazine. Using 6 column grids gave a flexibility for the "normal" parts of the magazine

A section of the magazine is dedicated to analyzing

fictional propaganda

This page below is for 1984-a book where the Party government spreads propaganda to control the citizens.

This video is a trial of a page where all text is chaotic and illegible….Until you go over it with blue or red gel paper.

The blue paper allows you to read the red text and vice versa.
Thematically, the blue paper tells you the Party’s lies, and the red paper reveals the truth behind their actions.
